FTP, which denotes File Transfer Protocol, represents the most popular method for transferring web content to a hosting account. Using an FTP client that’s pre-installed on your desktop or laptop PC, you can set up a connection to your website hosting server and copy all of the web files that you need with a couple of clicks of the mouse. This is done via a user-friendly GUI and it is as simple as dragging & dropping the abovementioned files. The advantage of using File Transfer Protocol is the fact that you will be able to create separate accounts, each one with a different level of access to your web space, so if you must provide a third party with access, for example – a web designer, they’ll be able to access only one specific directory and won’t be able to view the rest of your content or any other information, such as private details. Three prerequisites are required to be able to establish an FTP connection – a hostname, which is normally an IP address or a domain name, a username and a password.
FTP Accounts in Website Hosting
You will be able to set up as many FTP accounts as you need with each of the Linux website hosting packages
offered by our company, as we have chosen not to restrict this service. In this way, you can maintain multiple Internet sites simultaneously or give other people access to separate folders. Once a given task has been carried out and you wouldn’t like that individual to be able to access your website files any longer, you can edit the password for the FTP account in question or you can just delete the account with a couple of clicks and quit worrying about somebody connecting to it once again. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is included with all shared packages, will permit you to see the full list of the active FTP accounts displayed alphabetically. It takes only one single mouse click to manage various options for any of them – to edit the access path or the password, to download an auto-config file, etc.
FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Hosting
Using our in-house built Hepsia hosting Control Panel, you’ll be able to create as many FTP accounts as you like, even multiple accounts with access to one and the same folder – if you wish several individuals to be able to access the same web content with different login credentials. Our Linux semi-dedicated packages
don’t have any restriction on the maximum number of the FTP accounts that you can manage at the same time, so you will be able to administer your web files and to modify your Internet sites without any effort. In case you’d like to block the access to your web content, you can change the directory that an account can connect to or you can delete the account altogether with no more than a couple of clicks from the Control Panel. You’ll be able to view all the FTP accounts and to modify any of them, if necessary. For convenience’s sake, you can also download an auto-config file for a number of FTP client applications. What’s more, we have prepared in-depth help articles and instructional videos, which will help you manage your FTP accounts without any hassles.
